Andreas in Germany tells me that Frondenberg an der Ruhr gets it's name from the Ruhr river which runs through this part of the country. A lot of places in the area are named for the river. Collectively " Ruhrgebiet". This town was one of the most damaged by the Dambusters in World War II when they bombed the reservoir. The water was 2 meters high in the town.
