Art - Frederic Leighton, Flaming June. Germany

Flaming June by the artist Frederic Leighton (1830-1896).  Painted in 1895, the year before he died.  This was sent by Sophia in Germany.

Alper is a Turkish postal worker and sent this card which commemorates Istanbul as 2010 European City of Culture.  He added a matching stamp too!

Another great Kotoasiya card for my collection.  This one is called 'Friendship' and comes from Ekaterina in Belarus.  I wish I knew who the artist is.

Dasha sent this great card from Ukaraine but I don't know who the artist is as it's written in Russian (I think).  Not sure what kind of bird this is but I think the fly is just a regular common fly ;P

Curious cat - Olga Nesterova

A great card of 'Curious Cat' by Olga Nesterova.  It got a bit grubby on it's way here from Russia but the battle scars just add to the charm.  Thanks Julia!

Again an artcard with no clue as to the subject or artist but a very pretty card nonetheless.  Comes to me from Alexandra in Belarus.

No idea whos artwork this is which is a pity as I'd like to know.  Nice card from Russia.

I used to date a guy about 30 years ago who looked exactly like him, even the clothes are the same.  Spooky.

James Jean - Trike

At first I thought this was an Anime card but I didn't recognise which one.  On the back it just says XOXO so I did a bit of digging (I LOVE Google) and came up with the following =

It's not an anime but is the artwork of James Jean from a postcard book series called XOXO.  This one from the 'Hugs and Kisses' set and is called Trike. 

The Wave - Fantasek Kupka

The description on the back of the card says this is 'Vogue' an oil on canvas by Frantesek Kupka but I couldn't find anything about it on google.  Turns out it's not called Vogue but is 'The Wave'.

Great postcard showing the work of artist Isaac Levitan from a postcrosser in Russia.  Painted in 1897 it is called, "Spring High Water".
