Ginger Haired Lady, Art Card, Russia

An art card from Russia.  I'm not sure who the artist is but she's on Instagram, the back says.  With hair like that the lady could be Scottish!  Cute shaped Beekeeper collecting honey stamp too.  Thank you Dasha

Sunday

Mockba (Moscow), Russia

This is one of the unlucky cards which received 'The Fold' from my 'Horrible Ex-Postman'.  It's still a great card though and although I can't read it, I think it shows interesting facts and figures relating to Moscow.  Thank you Kate in Russia!

UNESCO - The Yaroslav's Court, Russia

A lovely card from Liza showing The Yaroslav's Court.  What great timing to get the photograph at exactly the right angle to look like the Rainbow had landed directly on the building.  This card will allow me to mark off my Russia UNESCO site 'Historical Centre of the City of Yaroslavl'.

A little bit of a mystery with this one too though.  There was a little paper ticket attached to the back of the postcard with a paperclip.  I don't know what it says or means and I don't know if it was the sender or the mail service that added it but it's interesting either way.  If you know what it says, please let me know.  I can't believe it made it all the way from Russia to Scotland with the paperclip and bit of paper still attached but I'm glad it did!

Friday

Yuri Gagarin, Russia

A handsome Yuri card has been given a modern makeover and is a great addition to my collection.  Sent by Alexander in Moscow.

Thursday

Soviet Poster 1917, Russia

I love getting cards from Russia and am especially thrilled when they're Vintage Soviet/CCCP/USSR postcards.  LOVE them!  This one was printed in 1985 to honour the Soviet Armed Force Foundation in October 1917.  Thanks Marina!

Torpedo Boat, Novorossiisk, Russia

Showing a Motor torpedo boat statue which is a symbol of all the boats which took part in the fight for Novorossiisk in September 1943.  Received from Yulia who was there for a visit with her family.

Another UNESCO card for my collection.  This one covers 'Kremlin and Red Square, Moscow.'.  From the back it says, "iew of the Iversky (Resurrection) Gate and State Historical Museum."  Thank you Elena.

Tula, Russia

A little card from Luba who lives in Tula, Russia.  The statue is of Nikita Dimidov who was a famous Russian Amourer and Industrialist.

Sunday

UNESCO - Kizhi Pogost, Russia

What a wonderful building!  It is the Church of Transfiuration and part of the UNESCO site 'Kizhi Pogost' in Russia.  Natalia, who sent this to me, has used great stamps too which also show the wooden structures.

UNESCO, St Isaac's Cathedral, St Petersburg

This is a UNESCO card and although I already have this site I'm always happy to have multiples if they're different views.  It comes from Igor in St Petersburg and shows St Isaac's Catherdral which was built between 1818 - 1858 and is the largest orthodox basilica in the world.

Saturday

Tsar Cannon

A marvelous card showing the Tsar Cannon which was built in 1586 and located in the Kremlin in Moscow.  It is in the Guinness book of records as the largest caliber gun.

I hate to think of the noise that thing made when it went off!

Thanks Natalia!

Watercolour

A great card from Natasha in Russia showing a picture of a watercolour by Danevich. G and shows 'View to the Bank Bridge'.

Yuri Gagarin

I love anything to do with Yuri Gagarin and am thrilled when a postcard arrives with him on it. This great one comes from Svetlana in Russia but I don't know what she writes as it's all in Russian.  Doesn't bother me though, I love everything about the card!

The printed description on the back says: 'Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space.  April 12, 1961.'

Thursday

Curious cat - Olga Nesterova

A great card of 'Curious Cat' by Olga Nesterova.  It got a bit grubby on it's way here from Russia but the battle scars just add to the charm.  Thanks Julia!

Black and white art

No idea whos artwork this is which is a pity as I'd like to know.  Nice card from Russia.

I used to date a guy about 30 years ago who looked exactly like him, even the clothes are the same.  Spooky.

Merry Christmas

A festive Merry Christmas all the way from Elena in Russia.
